On September 23rd, the 5th and 6th grades had the opportunity to go see the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra in concert. The theme for the concert was "Fables and Fairytales." All the classes have been learning about these stories and songs in music class the past two weeks and it was fun to see them played by a live orchestra. They also studied how to behave at an orchestra and did a great job putting what they learned into practice!
One of the students' favorite songs that the orchestra played was "In the Hall of the Mountain King." it tells the story of a boy named Peer Gynt running from trolls. The students enjoyed hearing this played live as it is a song they have heard many times in music class throughout the years!
Other songs the orchestra played included songs about Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, Don Quixote's battle with the sheep, an old Native American story about how Spider Brings Fire and a battle involving mythical beasts from the ballet "The Firebird."
