Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas will be in our district the first two weeks of February completing dental screenings and cleanings. Any student that does not have an opt-out form completed will receive a dental screening. The State of Kansas mandates each student be screened yearly. This is a quick visual inspection which they look for obvious decay, previous dental repair, and if the student has sealants. The student then receives a toothbrush and a form is sent home with them saying what the results are. If you do not want your child to participate in this program we will need a form completed with a note from your dental provider indicating when your child was seen last, if they have had previous dental repair, and if they have sealants. You can get opt-out form
They will also be offering the opportunity for your child to participate in a dental cleaning, fluoride varnish, and sealants if needed. All services are free of charge; they do ask for dental insurance information if you have it they will bill your insurance, but not you. If you want your child to have these services you will need to fill out the form that says consent for in-school dental care. If you completed one at enrollment there is no need to fill out another one. You can receive the Dental Services form here.
