This is the image for the news article titled CCC student brings lungs to show the effects of tobacco use to 3-6 gradersThe one goal for RED Ribbon week was to help our future leaders understand the importance of making healthy choices. One topic covered during Character Education was tobacco use. To help with this topic was CCC student, Sarah Smilko. She brought a set of human "smoker" lungs and set of "non-smoker" lungs. Students were able to use this experience to see and feel the differences between the lungs, examine the cancerous tumor inside the damaged lungs, as well as, get a better idea of what harmful effects can take place on the inside of the body if they smoke. The students all really enjoyed this experience and left saying, " I am never going to smoke!" Goal Accomplished!
